Autumn is on the way . It is actually one of my favourite times of the year. I love to see the hedgerows full of red berries and seeds. These sycamore seeds are my favourites , as children we would all throw them into the air and watch them twirl to the ground, hours of endless fun. Now I can't resist collecting them to draw , everywhere I see them and just have to bring some home with me .
I found these sycamore seeds and red berries on the ground amongst the snowdrops, this was the resulting picture . It is drawn using Derwent coloured pencils.

I am laughing about what your site says about not being able to do without drawing. Maybe I am the other side of that! Not only can I imagine it, I involuntarily live it. Still hoping to figure out a way to both keep my financial demands steady and still be able to "do what I would really like to do."
I am a patient person!
Milly, it really was wonderful to see you getting the exhibition ready. You have so many beautiful pieces. Thhe framing that you used is very much along the lines of what I used to use for my etchings.
When I used to (seems a lifetime ago) exhibit my very big colored pencil drawings ... one single shell on a single sheet of hot press fabriano artistio watercolor paper ... the paper would sort of be floated against whatever the backing was. It is so long ago, I cannot quite remember.
But all would be in a frame, with a width very much along the proportions of what you used. (The drawings were big, so framing was very expensive.) That could have been a reason that I moved back into oil painting, thinking that a stretched canvas, or wooden board could hang on its own.
Don't we artist make odd decisions?

Oh my, this one is absolutley stunning Eileen. Just gorgeous. When I enlarged the image I thought the little red berries were real and you'd placed them on the scanner. Also good to see you on Flickr - I'll go and fave some of your stuff now!
Oh, Eileen, I've just seen the video. I missed it when I last visited your blog. It's really lovely. I wish I could have see the exhibition. I just adore collections of things and you seem to have so many. I was really amazed at the amount of work you have too! Wow. Looks like a beautiful place and a lovely space for an exhibition. I loved the shelves and would have liked to have a good look at them in person. Well done. Looks great.
Wonderful rhythm and great use of color. A simply beautiful drawing.
