EDM 31 "Draw Something You Collect"

Well this one was easy for me , it had to be a leaf. I collect them nearly everyday, I definately look at them everyday . Yesterday I went for a walk by Coniston Lake and I collected some tiny leaves. They are beautifully shaped with colours which really are more like at Autumn time. We are having so much rain I fear autumn will arrive early. These little leaves had been blown about and had turned yellow and browns and just a bit of green here and there. I also found bits of blue and white china , going to draw them together for a picture.
Back to the leaf , Challenge EDM 31, as this is what I collect. This ia actually a Dock Leaf that has been eaten by beetles and left this gorgeous lace effect. I have used a new product by Derwent called Graphitint, like a pencil with colors. I really like them, used green and brown here. Love drawing the detail.
I have my eye on a Dock plant along the roadside, it is changing into some lovely colours and also been eaten by the beetles, great shapes appearing.
Hope you like this one. You should be able to click and get a larger image as some of you wanted to view my work closer.

Hello Milly,
Good to hear from you. Your work would surely find an audience here in the States.

I did look up the gallery and the lovely house, and feel that you have a perfect venue for your exhibit.

I still struggle to find a way to incorporate free, truly free, time into my week. What I need to figure out is how much I can compromise economic gain with spiritual/emotional/soulful gain.

This country is a place that does not always value the creative forces, but puts the commercial interests at the top of the heap.

New York is a city that has in past welcomed artists of all media, but now seems to place the crown on the marketplace, not the studio.

I am glad that in my younger years I did have the experience of being here when it was a place for artists.

There are new developments on the staffing front at the shop, that really do challenge my horizon. My assistant manager has wisely decided to take additional available leave to be with her new baby boy. A wise decision for her, but one that leaves me without that support for additional months. I still need to figure out a way to sort out this scheduling challenge.

Relax. Sharpen those pencils and crayons. Open you eyes. Gaze about you. Draw.

What a beautiful place you must live in. You have done some lovely nature drawings - what patience you must have.

Congratulations on your exhibet! It must be a good one, based upon the beautiful detiled drawings you've shared here. On a different topic, I bought some graphitint pencils last ear and haven't used them much. You've inspired me to considered them for this group.

It is a fabulous drawing. I too love leaves, and I really like the way you captured the lace effect...
