Virtual sketch February Challenge
This is my drawing of the February 2009 virtual sketch group challenge
It was painted using acrylic paint and then I used some coloursoft crayons on the water over the paint. I don't ever do scenes or landscapes so this was a really hard challenge for me. I have to confess when I saw the scene I didn't feel like doing it. I am glad I did and was pleased when I completed it. For me it was getting out of my comfort zone and trying something new.
My picture measures about 14 x 16 inches. Press to see larger.
I will go and look at everyone elses pictures now.

This is incredible! I really like the playful mood you created with the variety of surface textures. Beautiful piece! You should get out of your comfort zone more often :)
This is so beautiful! I can't tell you how much I admire your line work ; ) The colors you used are lovely, too.
Thanks so much for your kind comments on my blog. Your work really inspires me!
Very imaginative! It is good to get out of our comfort zones, and in this case, it is a lovely result!
This is super. The line work and texture are wonderful.
I hear you, Milly, about approaching this photo with some trepidation. Like you, I'm glad I tried it. What I like best about your interpretation of the source photo is the wonderful textures you incorporated into the mountain slopes. I could just sit and look at the shapes you've created here.
Blogger is giving me grief - this is the second time to try to leave a message!
Just wanted to say that I enjoyed the oak leaves and acorns from the November CL - just received Nov and Dec. I thought I'd missed your illustration, but then found it nearer the back.
We have oak trees here - Gary Oaks - small and gnarled and able to survive our long dry Island summers. They grow out of nothing - cracks in the rocks and always look ready to shed their leaves, even in the freshness of spring.
Very unique take on painting the reference.. Beautiful :)
Wow, the technique on the mountain is stunning! You have a very unique style.
Love, love, love the way dealt with your mountains..incredible!
Thank you so much for the view.
Very inspiring!
I quite like how you created the intricate shapes in the mountains.
I too am not really and landscape person and had to push myself to complete this piece. Its good to go into uncharted waters sometimes.
I love the effect you made in the mountains!
Congratulations!
Really Beautiful, cold and icy ! You are clever, I really love the Da Vinci page too, all the best X
