EDM 112 "Draw Something Fresh"
I live by the seashore and in the summer months Mushrooms grow on the shore. As a child I would get such a thrill at going down to the shore and searching for the mushrooms. It is best to go after rain and then sunshine , the little white button mushrooms are growing and peeping through the grass. It doesn't matter how many times you have been searching for them it is always such a thrill to find them. Last year waS a bumper year and there were masses of them. Your going to laugh when I tell you that I don't actually like eating them. But I do like drawing them. This one was picked fresh from the shore and selected for its beautiful shape and lovely patterns with the frilly scales underneath . I just love them as a drawing subject. Of course as they perish fairly quickly I needed to draw it while it was fresh, to capture all the detail. It is drawn wiith HB pencil.

GORGEOUS!! Those shadings and delictate lines are PERFECT!!! BRAVA!!!!
Beautiful drawing! I didn't realise that mushrooms could grow so near the sea. The best mushrooms I ever had were ones that were picked and in a frying pan almost straight away, picked by a relative when I was on holiday in West Cork. Every mushroom has been a disappointment since then so now I don't eat them so often but I see that they make a great subject!
I am not much of a mushroom person as far as eating them but I agree they make a great subject. Great line work and shading. Wonderful job!
Another gorgeous drawing Eileen. I LOVE drawing fungi too. I ealy thought that this was ink - a very sharp pencil I'm guessing? Great stuff.
I love the contrast between the strong lines of the underside and the delicate marks on the stem.
Oh WOW wow WOW! This is simply amazing! Gorgeous! Fantastic! (Can you tell I REALLY like it?! lol)
That's awesome! I love how you used bold lines on the gills.
great job! you should post that in our monthly challenge folder at botanicalart -- http://ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/botanicalart/photos/browse/81cb
that way, anyone cruising thru there looking at the monthly challenge of mushrooms/fungi would see a picture of your lovely mushroom, too. it doesn't just have to be done during the month of the challenge to be put in that folder!
I am constantly in awe of your line work. This is gorgeous. Excellent!
