Well I used to teach infants and everyday I had this job. I always sharpened all the pencils in the pencil pots, especially if it was handwriting . I had classes of 30 children , if I only did it once a day over one week that was 150 pencils, so over the year ..imagine. Sometimes I would hate it , a blunt sharpener and it took for ever. So I thought this had to be the challenge, a pencil sharpener , shavings and a nice sharp pencil. Not my usual drawing subject but took the challenge, in pencil.

There's so much feeling in this drawing. What I sense looking at it is both a sense of humor and a bit of aggression or danger (am I just projecting?). At any rate it just seems like a very feisty sharpener, beautifully drawn.
LOve your sketch! I will be back!
The detail work here is just awesome! I agree, the shavings are brilliantly done.
Ohh that brings back memories for me.
We have to go to Scotland tomorrow and if we have time we will try to stop off and see the exhibition on the way back as I really would love to see your drawings in the flesh so to speak.
