Wild Flowers I collected.

I had been for a walk and picked a bunch of wildflowers from the hedgerows in my village. They were placed in this jug and after a day or two started to droop and some had died. I was about to throw them out when I just saw something that made me want to draw them. There was some interesting shapes and a pleasing composition. So I quickly captured what I saw.
It was painted in water colours over the pencil drawing. It is simple and yet I like it, but then I do like wild flowers and their simple honest shapes. These are all plants and flowers I have known all my life, collected since I was a little girl and brought home as a gift for my mum.
Press for close up.

Milly, yet again I have seen a post from you ... just at a time when I really wonder if I will ever find time to draw or paint again.

Your wildflowers were rescued by your artist's hand and eye. Somehow, this evening, that was just the perfect message for me to see.

Many thanks. xo

This charming drawing is all the more interesting because the flowers have started to wilt a little and as you say they make such good shapes. You have captured the spontaneity of the moment perfectly.

I can see this work hanging in a cosy country kitchen.

I love the way that things from nature can just catch the eye & fill you with a real urge to capture it. I take forever when we are out on walks always stopping to catch a detail with my camera. I love the composition of your painting, the detail in the flowers. OOhh i want to get my pencils out!!

What a beautiful light touch you have. It's a matter of knowing when to stop isn't it?

I was married one early October day decades ago and carried a bouquet of late-blooming wildflowers. Your wildflowers were captured at just the right moment - somehow fall flowers aren't meant to be perky.
