Inspiration from the Sea

I have been drawing and painting shells, the prize for my give away, which is on its journey to Peru. I do not want to spoil the surprise for Carolina. After it arrives I will post it here for you to see.
I can always find inspiration from the sea as I collect objects washed on to our local beaches, especially shells, feathers and pebbles. I often buy starfish and patterned shells to draw, beautiful shells from other lands.
But I can always find plenty of feathers because the estuary is home to many species of birds. All these objects go together so well, the patterns and colours of natural objects just seem to compliment each other.
I have a love of tags. Today I bought some brown ones to paint shells or berries or leaves on, putting little things I love on something else I love.
A little display inspired by the sea, hope you like them.

Your drawings are so exquisite - I really love them! The red and white shells are wonderful, but I also like the way you have arranged the feathers and the little helicopter sycamore (have I got that right?) seed heads.

I especially loved your drawings of the feathers. The patterns and textures of the feathers are so beautiful and your drawings are so detailed and look so real that if I hadn't known better I would have thought the drawings were the real thing :)

I love looking at your work; it is an inspiration to me to work on my own drawing skills.

I do. And I loved my little tag too. I have tied it onto the bathroom door handle.

I have a tag too! Such a delightful and unexpected treat to arrive with your beautiful art cards.

I think I spy a Guinea Fowl feather which makes me smile!

I saw your comment on my blog that you hadn't received my address. I had emailed you before but it must not have worked, so I have emailed you again. Anyway, I just thought that I would let you know that I am trying to send you my address just in case the email still doesn't work.

Dear Milly,

My cards arrived yesterday, thank you! And a beautiful tag too - surprises like that are a real treat. It's being coveted by my children ('but mum, it really fits with our shop!!'), but no way are they going to get it :-).
Oh and don't worry about the post please - I like the anticipation of waiting for something good that is making its way to me..

Jannette.

I'll let you know immediately after I get it...
I love the display, it really looks lovely. A corner like that would be my favorite place of the house...
